Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals Timeline: The cricketing rivalry between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals has always been worth watching. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s strong lineup and Delhi Capitals’ competitive game have always been a clash of fire and intensity, where both teams have shown fierce rivalry on the field over the seasons of the IPL. One-time IPL winner two times runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad are one of the toughest teams ever to face in the IPL because of their dangerous batting approach and top-notch bowling. The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Capitals have 26 clashes between them, where Sunrisers Hyderabad has a slight upper hand in head-to-head stats, winning 13 battles against Delhi Capitals, whereas Delhi Capitals has won 12 matches against the former IPL Champion Sunrisers Hyderabad. One game, which is the latest encounter between them, ended with no result because of rain interruption.

2013-2015 – Rise of the Sunrisers

The rivalry began on 12th April 2013, when DC hosted SRH in their first encounter at their Home ground, Arun Jaitley Stadium. Where SRH defeated DC with a bang start of the rivalry. During this period, SRH battled DC 6 times and clinched victory 5 times, while DC only managed to win a single match against SRH, and DC’s struggle continued in these years, also by having two back-to-back Wooden Spoons in the IPL 2013 and 2014. 

2016-2018 – Equal Competition

2019-2020 Prime DC

In two years, SRH and DC faced 6 times, where both teams won equal battles against each other, but out of 3 victories, 2 wins came in the Playoffs for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator of the IPL 2019 and Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2020, also DC had their best campaign in the IPL as they finished Runners-up of the IPL 2020.

2021-2023 DC’s Comeback

In this period, DC ruled this rivalry against SRH by winning 4 out of 5 clashes, including one Super over win in the IPL 2021, also Delhi Capitals topped the points table in the IPL 2021. During these years, Sunrisers Hyderabad only managed to grab a single win against DC. SRH also faced their worst seasons ever in the IPL by having 2 Wooden Spoons in IPL 2021 and 2023.

2024-2025 Tough Rivalry

The rivalry continues as SRH and DC have had 3 encounters in these years, where both teams won 1 match each, and one match ended in a no result because of rain interruption. SRH clinched the runner-up spot in IPL 2024. Whereas DC had decent campaigns in these years. SRH also scored 266/7 against DC in Delhi, which is the highest score of this rivalry.
