BCCI Announces INR 51 Crore Reward for India Women After World Cup Triumph

INR 51 Crore Reward For India Women’s World Cup Win

Indian Women’s cricket is experiencing its most glorious moment! The victory in the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup has provided India with their first senior world trophy in women’s cricket, and has also created history in terms of recognition, emotional investment and reward. The BCCI has now confirmed that the entire team – players, support staff and even the selectors – will receive a whopping INR 51 crore cash award for bringing the World Cup home, and this does not include the USD 4.48 million prize money (approx. INR 40 crore) that will also arrive from the ICC.

BCCI president Mithun Manhas remarked that this victory was a culmination of years of planning and investment into women’s cricket in India. He pointed to the fact that the entire system — from domestic cricket to pathways — was built brick by brick and that the 2025 World Cup triumph was the ultimate validation that the vision was right.

India’s World Cup Final Glory

The entire country watched the DY Patil Stadium explode when India beat South Africa by 52 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team scored a phenomenal 298/7 batting first. Shafali Verma scored 87 off just 78 balls, setting the table. However, the Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma had the biggest impact on the day with the ball, taking five wickets to bowl South Africa for 246. Laura Wolvaardt scored a century for SA, yet the Indian bowling attack did not panic.

It was poetic. India had been runners-up in 2005 and again in 2017. There was heartbreak, there were near misses, but finally destiny opened its door in 2025.

Historic Moment for Women’s Cricket in India

This victory has made the full circle that began with the Under-19 women’s team winning the first ever U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. That created belief. This title in 2025 has created a legacy.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the victory belonged to every cricketer, every coach, every support staff and every state association who has contributed to women’s cricket. His message clearly pointed to the win not being dumb luck or overnight miracle, but a victory based on a system maturing.

Busy Schedule Already Ahead

The champions will hardly get a breather. Most players from this World Cup squad have already been announced as part of the squad for the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy that begins on November 4 in Nagaland. Shafali Verma and Harleen Deol is the captain and vice-captain of North Zone, respectively, but might miss the first match because the team is meeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 5 in Delhi.
